Setting Up Your Own Affiliate Program
Eventually you will create your own products and want others to promote for you. I did not create my first product until November of 2006, which was at the end of my first year online. By then I had already been making money as an affiliate marketer, so the idea of having my own affiliates to promote my product was very attractive to me.Starting your own affiliate program may be the right thing for you now, especially if you have your own product and need to reach more people. Affiliates can become an online sales team, bringing you more leads and buyers on a regular basis.
Before setting up your program, think about the affiliates you will look for, the tools you will provide for them, and the way you will run your program to train people the way you need them to be trained.
Finding the right people to promote your products and services is not as difficult as you might think. You will want to make sure they understand what you are doing in your business, and will be able to give you the highest recommendation when they email their list and other contacts. The very best people to have as affiliates are the ones who are also your clients; this gives them firsthand knowledge of why someone else should buy from you. You must provide your affiliates with the tools to make their job much easier. You can write emails for them to send to their lists, tweets they can use on Twitter, and articles they can post to their blog. All of this makes it much easier for them, and more likely they will make the effort required to be successful. Be sure to give them their exact link within each email message you send out so they do not have to take the additional time to look it up.
Provide some training on a regular basis. This will ensure that your affiliate program runs smoothly and that everyone is on the same page. Many affiliate marketers are new to working on the Internet, and you want to take the time to train them on how to best promote your products and services to others. This will also set you apart from most of the others who are running their own affiliate programs. The idea is that they will think of you when they are looking for something to recommend to their audience. Taking this extra time will pay off well, in terms of increased sales and visibility.
This training helped me to set up my affiliate program so that I could increase my income and do the best job possible for my affiliates.
